What its about(from goodreads):
Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.
She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.
Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.
As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's...
What I thought:
I have liked this book for a really long time... I'm not going to lie, even before I ever saw the beautiful cover or held the ARC (My very first!) in my hands. I got the ARC through a blog tour set up by
Windy Aphayrath so I didn't get to keep the ARC (a very sad day when I had to give it back.) Anyway, the reason I liked it before I read it is because of it's Author
Brodi Ashton. If you don't already follow her blogs or tweets I think you should be sad! You've missed a lot of belly button lint:) okay and much better things than that. She's amazing, blogging about everything from her dad's amazing battle with cancer and how they handle it with rainbows and sunshine, to the stress of writing books she always has a way of seeing the positive side of things! She brings a lot of humor to the blogging world.
EVERNEATH isn't funny like her blog but its beautiful. From page one I couldn't put it down. The way she's able to tell a story from two different times is haunting and perfect. Every chapter leaves you wanting so much more. This book is the start of something new for Paranormal lovers.
I love all the little Utah traditions I was able to spot in the book. The family values and subtle references to the way Utah lives were perfectly added through out the story. It made it feel more like home, and I think the rest of the world will love it too.
The Characters:
Nikki Beckett: Nikki has gone through alot in 100 years and it shows in the sides of herself portrayed through the time gaps. She has to learn to be her, to love, to say good-bye. She feels so real you just want to hug and her and tell her it will all be okay.
Jack Caputo: My favorite book crush! I'm pretty sure he even surpasses Dimitri from Vampire Academy (if you know me at all you know this is BIG!) I love LOVE LOVE him. With out giving away any of the story My favorite scene is the one where he tosses her a deck of cards and says "You deal, then when you're ready to talk, talk." I think this part of the story sums up who Jack is and just how much he'd actually do for Nikki.
Cole: The bad boy you love to hate and hate to love. There's a lot of 'he loves her, he loves her not' going on with Cole. From his good looks to the draw no girl can ignore you're left with mixed feelings for the immortal guy.
IF YOU LIVE IN UTAH: the release party will be on the 24th at Kings English! I'm making all my friends come for my birthday girls night! hope to see you there:)
