What its about:
Eugenie Markham is a powerful shaman who does a brisk trade banishing spirits and fey who cross into the mortal world. Mercenary, yes, but a girls got to eat. Her most recent case, however, is enough to ruin her appetite. Hired to find a teenager who has been taken to the Otherworld, Eugenie comes face to face with a startling prophecy--One that uncovers dark secrets about her past and claims that Eugenie's first-born will threaten the future of the world as she knows it.
Now Eugenie is a hot target for every ambitious demon and Otherwordly ne'er-do-well, and the ones who don't want to knock her up want her dead. Eugenie handles a Glock as smoothly as she wields a wand, but she needs some formidable allies for a job like this. She finds them in Dorian, a seductive fairy king with a taste for bondage, and Kiyo, a gorgeous shape-shifter who redefines animal attraction. But with enemies growing bolder and time running out, Eugenie realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it lies in the dark powers that are stirring to life within her....
What I thought:
This is my least favorite series from Richelle Mead. I'm not big in to novels that are pretty strong fantasy. I didn't relate to any of the characters as well I could with Richelle's other characters. I liked Kiyo but felt really betrayed by him in this story. I don't know if I felt better about him in the end or not. I thought the lands in the Otherworld were kind of cool, but again a little too much on the fantasy side for me. It took me a long time to get into this book, but I didn't hate it or love it.
Mockingjay By: Suzanne Collins 398 Pages Published by Scholastic Press Book 3 of 3
What its about:
My Name Is Katniss Everdeen. Why Am I Not Dead? I Should Be Dead.
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped, Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.
It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans-- except Katniss.
The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay-- no matter what the personal cost.
What I thought:
I thought this book was an excellent end to a fantastic series. I had a hard time with the being separated from Peeta and was almost as depressed as Katniss was about it. I really felt like it was my life. I was so sad to see this series end, but I couldn't put this book down. I love love loved the Real or not real game. I just want to read this series over and over again.
I love that Katniss can think for her self and does. There are for sure some heart breaking moments in this book. Its hard when the one thing that starts the whole thing gets pulled out from under you. I had a hard time with it but I thought it was a great twist.
